Spiced Apple Chutney

I love this chutney - great for 'everyday'


Vinegar, Cider
1pint 10fl oz
900 ml
Apples, Cooking
1.8 kg
Onions (medium) , Peeled and chopped
4 each
Garlic Clove , finely chopped
2 each
450 g
Sea Salt
2 tsp
Juice of Lemon
1 each
Ginger, ground
1 tbsp
Sugar, Soft Brown
900 g


Place apples, onions, garlic, lemon juice, mustard seeds and 600ml/1 pint of the vinegar into a pan Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer until soft, stirring frequently Add raisins, ground ginger, salt, sugar and the remaining vinegar and simmer until the chutney is thick Ladle into hot, sterilised jars and seal.
