Butterscotch Sauce

This easy sauce is simply delicious and a must-have for family parties

Ingredients

Butter,
Salted or unsalted, cut into small cubes
4 oz
125 g
Sugar, Soft Brown
6 oz
170 g
Sugar, White granulated
4 oz
125 g
Golden Syrup
10 oz
275 g
Cream, Double
8 fl oz
240 ml
Vanilla Extract
1 half tsp

Method

  1. Place the butter and sugars in a medium pan together with the golden syrup
  2. Heat slowly until everything has melted and the sugars dissolved
  3. Continue to heat for a further 5 mins. Turn off the heat
  4. Gradually stir in the cream and follow with the vanilla essence
  5. Stir for a further 2-3 mins or until the sauce is absolutely smooth. Pour into sterilised bottles and sealt tightly
  6. Can be used immediately and served hot or cold - great with ice-cream
  7. Will keep for several weeks in the fridge
